Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD

Thursday October 26 – Market Hall (Peterborough)

Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD

Together for five years, Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD is a seamless fit of five extraordinarily talented artists….Victoria Yeh (electric violin), Marco Luciani (keyboards), Steve Lucas (bass), Michael Murray (lead guitar), and Paul DeLong (drums and percussion). Their stunning performances of fusion classics by The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Jean-Luc Ponty, Return to Forever, Allan Holdsworth, and many more….both beautiful and powerful….will keep you mesmerized.

The Musicians

Paul DeLong, drums

Juno Award winner, multi-platinum artist, author, and educator, Paul DeLong’s work spans many genres of music encompassing funk, Afro-Cuban, rock, and jazz. A member of Canada’s music royalty and considered one of North America’s top drummers, Paul DeLong’s many successes during his lengthy career have coalesced into his passion project, jazz-fusion band Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD.

Paul is best known for his work with legendary artists such as Kim Mitchell, Domenic Troiano, Lawrence Gowan (Styx), David Clayton-Thomas (Blood, Sweat, and Tears), Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Tom Scott (L.A. Express) and David Blamires (Pat Metheny).

Steve Lucas, bass

An international recording and touring bassist, electronic artist, and composer, Steve Lucas’s cutting-edge brand of jazz fusion adds another dimension to any performance. As a bassist, he has shared the stage with Bruce Cockburn, Loreena McKennitt, Moe Koffman, and Levon Helm (to name just a few). As a composer, Lucas’s work has been featured in numerous shows and television productions including The Daily Show with John Stewart and The Diary of Alicia Keys recording.

Mike Murray, guitar

Mike Murray’s fingers blur as they move up and down the frets of his guitar, seemingly barely touching the strings. As the lead guitarist of Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD, Murray’s mesmerizing performance on A Lotus on Irish Streams is spellbinding. It is the perfect foil for the plaintive call of Victoria Yeh’s violin. Experienced in an extensive variety of music styles and genres, Murray is a graduate of Humber College’s music program, is a member of the faculty at Centennial College, and is a rising bandleader.

Victoria Yeh, electric violin

Victoria Yeh’s unique style….dynamic and progressive. Classically trained, Yeh combines the purity of her musical heritage with the edginess of progressive fusion. She lights up the stage with her infectious energy, her passion, and distinctive style, captivating audiences across Canada. As a member of the jazz-fusion band Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD, Yeh presents the violin as it’s rarely seen.

Marco Luciani, keys

Hailing as one of Canada’s brightest young talents, Juno Award winner Marco Luciani began playing piano at the age of five. A highly sought-after composer and sideman Luciani has penned, collaborated, and recorded albums, movie soundtracks, and TV shows for a long list of artists including Gino Vannelli, Kim Mitchell, Alfie Zappacosta, Dirty Dancing, The Big Bang Theory…..the list is endless. His magical touch on the keyboard adds the perfect “note” to the ensemble cast that is Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD.
